IACHR admits case against Bolivia for violation of conscientious objection to military service

The organization Rights in Action announced that the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) declared the admissibility of the international complaint against Bolivia for the violation of the human right to conscientious objection to military service.

The complaint was filed in 2016 by Rights in Action, representing José Ignacio Orías Calvo. In the report 147/2020, the IACHR indicated that the case must be admitted for analysis. In this part of the process, possible violations of the right to freedom of conscience, the right to privacy, freedom of thought, among others, will be evaluated.
