Ministers of worship in Chile may move in exceptional cases

The Instructions Displacement Permits prepared by the Chilean government, updated on April 30 state that ministers of worship can only attend rites or activities that cannot be postponed and should always follow the rules and instructions dictated by the Health Authority.

It should be noted that in Chile, authorities and the media have linked the activities of religious groups to the covid-19 outbreak in some communities. In many cases replicating inaccurate information, encouraging rejection and criticism above all, against evangelical communities.

Although some religious leaders have not complied the laws and/or demonstrated their disagreement with the measures taken by the government, this stand is not the common denominator of religious leaders. In these cases, the authorities and the media should contribute to clarifying such differences and not allow the defamation of the church, as would be required of any other representative group in the country.
