OLIRE submits a report for the Universal Periodic Review of Nicaragua

The Observatory of Religious Freedom in Latin America, together with the International Institute for Religious Freedom, Outreach Aid to the Americas, and the Liberties and Pluralism Line of the Legal Clinic of Public Interest and Human Rights of the University of La Sabana, presented a joint report to be considered at the 47th session of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review of Nicaragua.

Taking as a basis the recommendations pending compliance; this report is presented to provide new and relevant information on the state of the right to religious freedom and how it has been restricted by the government of Nicaragua.

Due to the escalation of repression against members of Catholic and evangelical communities,  is pertinent greater attention to this problem by the working group responsible for the UPR.

The full report is available here.
